Chino, Calif. /California Newswire/ — State Senator Gloria Negrete McLeod announced her campaign for Congress today. Senator Negrete McLeod will run in the newly created 35th Congressional District, which includes the cities of Pomona, Montclair, Ontario, Chino, unincorporated Bloomington, and portions of Fontana and Rialto.
“I have been honored to represent this district for over 16 years as a locally elected leader,” Senator Negrete McLeod said. “I look forward to taking my brand of independent and common sense leadership to Washington, DC. Our next member of Congress needs to focus on job creation and ensure our limited resources are invested in programs that improve the lives of everyday Californians.”
A 41-year resident of the District, Senator Negrete McLeod has an unparalleled record of winning elections in San Bernardino County. She won election to the Chaffey College Governing Board in 1995 and 1999, State Assembly in 2000, 2002, and 2004 and State Senate in 2006 and 2010. She and her husband Gilbert McLeod, a retired police lieutenant, have 10 children, 27 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.
