SACRAMENTO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments: First, Julie Austin, 56, of Oceanside, has been appointed to Area Board XIII of the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities. Austin has been a self-employed special education and disabilities advocate since 1997 and has been an advocate for the developmentally disabled community since 1995.
She was the owner and general manager of Brengle Terrace Animal Hospital from 1993 to 1994 and a retail sales associate at Aquarium Supplies Unlimited from 1991 to 1993. Austin held multiple positions at Zoecon Industries Veterinary Pharmaceuticals and Pet Supplies from 1988 to 1991, including regional sales manager. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Austin is a Democrat.
Jordan Wright, 25, of Fontana, has been appointed to Area Board XII of the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities. Wright was a representative and organizer at SEIU Local 1000 from 2011 to 2012 and an executive team leader at Target from 2008 to 2011. He was a file clerk and office manager at the Law Office of Diane Hartog from 2007 to 2009. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Wright is a Democrat.
Damian Capozzola, 41, of Hermosa Beach, has been appointed to the California Law Revision Commission, where he served from 2010 to 2011. Capozzola has been a partner at Crowell and Moring LLP since 2011. He was an attorney at Epstein Becker and Green P.C. from 2007 to 2011 and an attorney at Kirkland and Ellis LLP from 1996 to 2007. Capozzola earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $50 per diem. Capozzola is registered decline-to-state.
