SACRAMENTO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — On Tuesday, Calif. Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. announced the following appointments: First, Leta Ciavaglia, 61, of Sanger, has been reappointed to the 21st District Agricultural Association, Big Fresno Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2012. Ciavaglia has been president of the Penstar Group since 2011, where she has held several positions since 1984, including construction manager and asset manager.

Ciavaglia is vice president of the Clovis High School Alumni Association and a member of the Clovis High School Scholarship Committee. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Ciavaglia is a Republican.

Jerry Pacheco, 70, of Kerman, has been reappointed to the 21st District Agricultural Association, Big Fresno Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2012. Pacheco has been president of Pacheco Dairy Inc. since 1996. He was owner at Pacheco Farms from 1967 to 1996. Pacheco is a member of the Fresno County Farm Bureau, Nisei Farmers League, Sun-Maid Growers of California, Kerman Unified School District Ag Support Group and the Fresno State University Bulldog Foundation. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Pacheco is a Democrat.

Loretta Toledo, 61, of Hanford, has been reappointed to the 24a District Agricultural Association, Kings Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2005. Toledo was an office worker at Vierra Electric from 2004 to 2011 and an owner and partner at T and T Dairy from 1975 to 2004. Toledo is a member of California Women for Agriculture, King Fair Boosters, Kings Junior Fair Board and Kings County 4-H. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Toledo is a Republican.

Daniel Brown, 70, of Sonora, has been reappointed to the 29th District Agricultural Association, Mother Lode Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2014. Brown was an engineering technician at the County of Tuolumne Public Works Department from 2002 to 2010. He was a civil engineering technician at the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service from 1976 to 2002, a driver’s license examiner at the California Department of Motor Vehicles, Livermore in 1976 and an engineering technician at California Department of Transportation from 1970 to 1976. Brown was an E4 in the U.S. Navy Seabees from 1966 to 1968. He is treasurer for the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 391 and for AMVETS, is a member of the Sonora Elks Lodge 1587 and was president of the Native Sons of the Golden West,Parlor 258 from 2013 to 2014. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Brown is a Democrat.

Jan Costa, 77, of Tuolumne, has been reappointed to the 29th District Agricultural Association, Mother Lode Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2014. Costa was a tribal administrator at Chicken Ranch Tribal Office of Me-Wuk Indians of California from 1995 to 2012, a rancher at Two Horse Ranch from 1985 to 1995 and held several positions at Delta Lines-California Motor Express from 1956 to 1985, including internal auditor and marketing manager. Costa is a member of the Sonora Chamber of Commerce Board and the Civic Advisory Board for Sonora Regional Medical Center. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Costa is a Democrat.

Charles Phillips, 49, of Mariposa, has been reappointed to the 35a District Agricultural Association, Mariposa County Fair and Homecoming Board of Directors, where he has served since 2014. Phillips has been an independent photographer since 1994. He was a maintenance worker for the San Benito High School District from 1999 to 2002 and park aide for the City of Salinas Parks and Community Services Department and the Monterey County Parks Department from 1990 to 1994. Phillips was an assistant ice maker and weight master at Maggio Farms from 1984 to 1988. He was a conservation aide for the National Park Service Youth Conservation Corps in 1982. Phillips is a member of the Mariposa Butterfly Festival Board, Mariposa County Business Association, Mariposa Photography Club, National Geographic Society’s Sierra Nevada Wide Geocouncil and the Mariposa County Arts Council. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Phillips is a Republican.

Mark Anderson, 48, of Blythe, has been reappointed to the 54th District Agricultural Association, Colorado River Board of Directors, where he has served since 2013. Anderson has served as a correctional corporal at the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department since 1987. He is a business administrator at the TGP Youth Instructional Center. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Anderson is a Democrat.

Katherine Stroschein, 67, of Blythe, has been reappointed to the 54th District Agricultural Association, Colorado River Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2008. Stroschein has been an enrolled agent and owner at Kathy Stroschein Tax Service since 1983. She is treasurer at California Women for Agriculture and at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women’s Auxiliary, Post 2987. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Stroschein is registered without party preference.

Arnulfo Fito Vazquez, 55, of Blythe, has been reappointed to the 54th District Agricultural Association, Colorado River Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2014. Vazquez has been a cake decorator at Albertsons since 2007. He was a manager at Fernando’s Affordable Furniture from 2003 to 2007 and a baker at the Chuckawalla Valley State Prison from 1991 to 2002. Vazquez is a member of the Friends of the Colorado River Fair Foundation Board of Directors, Palo Verde Valley Hospital Foundation Board and the Palo Verde Valley Hopeful Start Foundation Board. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Vazquez is a Democrat.
