SACRAMENTO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — Calif. Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Paramount) and Assembly Budget Chair Phil Ting (D-San Francisco) issued the following statements Wednesday after the Assembly passed the 2016-17 state budget:

Anthony RendonSpeaker Rendon:
“This budget is both responsible and visionary. We lift families out of poverty, increase access to Early Childhood Education, and make college more accessible for Californians. We make these investments while ensuring our fiscal stability by growing the state’s Rainy Day Fund. This is a very positive budget – and a very positive step for California.”

Budget Chair Ting:
“This budget focuses on the ingredients for building a stronger middle class. We invest in our future by funding education, reducing poverty and cleaning our environment. We create greater fiscal stability by saving for a rainy day and building the largest reserve in over three decades.”
