LOS ANGELES, Calif. /California Newswire/ — New Directions for Veterans (NDVets), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive housing and supportive services to homeless and at-risk veterans, announced the organization will host its annual Honoring our Heroes Gala to benefit homeless veterans on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the Skirball Cultural Center beginning at 6pm. The Gala will award American Legion Ronald Reagan – Palisades Post 283 with the Philanthropic Hero Award and will be hosted by Actor, Steve Weber, who will receive the Media Hero Award, acknowledging him for his contribution in the event for so many years. The evening is intended to recognize these community leaders for their support and advocacy for veterans throughout LA County. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in a silent auction, in which funds raised will benefit the residents and participants of New Directions and its programs.

“The Honoring our Heroes Gala is our opportunity to not only honor our veterans, but those advocating for them as well,” said USMC Capt. (Ret) Leo Cuadrado, Executive Director of New Directions. “After the release of the 2019 Homeless Count of Los Angeles, it is clear that homeless veterans need our support now more than ever, and we are grateful to know we have partners in the community behind us to help raise the much-needed funds to continue providing life-saving services to veterans seeking help.”

New Directions for Veterans is located on the West LA Veterans Affairs Campus and has been providing housing services and supportive programs to homeless veterans since 1992. The organization serves veterans facing issues such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), substance use, as well as other physical and mental health difficulties.
