SACRAMENTO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today issued the following statement after signing AB 1280, also known as Adam’s Law, by Assemblymember Mike Villines (R-Clovis), which creates harsher penalties for anyone that causes physical harm to a child under the age of eight, resulting in permanent injury or disability:

“As Governor, my number one priority is to protect the citizens of this great state, most importantly children that are too young to defend themselves. Those that abuse and cause physical harm to children deserve the most severe punishment possible. Adam’s Law means harsher punishment for child abusers and greater justice for our children.”

Governor Schwarzenegger is committed to protecting California’s children and on September 9, signed AB 1844, also known as Chelsea’s Law, by Assemblymember Nathan Fletcher (R-San Diego) to create harsher penalties for sex offenders that prey on children.
