SACRAMENTO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — Calif. Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments: First, Douglas Faigin, 66, of Marina del Rey, has been appointed to the California State University, Board of Trustees. Faigin has been president of City News Service Inc. since 1985.
Faigin was owner and general manager at KBCR Inc. from 1981 to 1985. Faigin served as press secretary for Jerry Brown’s 1974 gubernatorial campaign and deputy campaign manager in Brown’s reelection campaign in 1978. He earned a doctorate degree in political science from Claremont Graduate University and a Master of Science degree in journalism from Northwestern University. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Faigin is a Democrat.
Rose Conroy, 59, of Woodland, has been appointed to the California Earthquake Authority Advisory Panel. Conroy has worked in multiple positions at the City of Davis Fire Department since 1979, including fire chief, fire captain and firefighter. She served as president of the Fire Department Section at the League of California Cities from 2003 to 2004. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Conroy is a Democrat.
Mark Hartwig, 49, of Rancho Cucamonga, has been appointed to the California Commission on Emergency Medical Services. Hartwig has been fire chief at the San Bernardino County Fire District since 2011. He served as battalion chief and deputy fire chief at the Rancho Cucamonga Fire District from 2005 to 2011 and served in various positions at the San Bernardino County Fire Department from 1992 to 2005, including fire captain. Hartwig is a member of the California Fire Chiefs Association and serves as president of the Emergency Medical Services Section. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Hartwig is a Republican.
Joy Stovell, 46, of Stockton, has been appointed to the California Commission on Emergency Medical Services. Stovell has been a fire engineer and paramedic for the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District since 1997. She was an office administrator at Cambridge Systematics Inc. from 1989 to 1997. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Stovell is a Democrat.
Dave Teter, 46, of Cameron Park, has been appointed to the California Commission on Emergency Medical Services, where he has served since 2010. Teter has served in multiple positions at the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), including battalion chief and paramedic in the Amador El Dorado Unit in 2012 and the San Diego Unit from 2011 to 2012. He served as battalion chief and CAL FIRE safety officer from 2007 to 2011 and was fire captain and paramedic in the Amador El Dorado Unit from 1998 to 2006. Teter served as firefighter paramedic and fire apparatus engineer paramedic in the San Bernardino Unit from 1992 to 1998. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Teter is a Democrat.
