SACRAMENTO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — Today, Calif. Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. announced the following appointments: First, Tam Doduc, 50, of Sacramento, has been reappointed to the State Water Resources Control Board, where she has served since 2005. Doduc served in several positions at the California Environmental Protection Agency from 2000 to 2005, including deputy secretary for environmental quality, assistant secretary for air and chemical programs, assistant secretary for agriculture and chemical programs and assistant secretary for technology certification.

She was an air resources engineer at the California Air Resources Board from 1997 to 2000 and served as special assistant to the secretary at the California Environmental Protection Agency from 1995 to 1997 and from 1993 to 1994. Doduc was a water resources engineer at the State Water Resources Control Board from 1994 to 1995 and from 1989 to 1992. She has been a registered professional civil engineer since 1995. Doduc earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Business and a Master of Science degree in civil engineering from California State University, Sacramento. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $142,095. Doduc is a Democrat.

Joaquin Esquivel, 34, of La Quinta, has been appointed to the State Water Resources Control Board. Esquivel has served as assistant secretary for federal water policy at the California Natural Resources Agency since 2015. He served in several positions in the Office of U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer from 2007 to 2015, including research assistant, legislative aide and legislative assistant for water and agriculture issues, and director of information and technology. Esquivel was a center youth manager for Gay Associated Youth from 2002 to 2004. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $142,095. Esquivel is a Democrat.

For March 14, Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. announced the following appointments:

Ross Lai, 57, of San Francisco, has been reappointed to the Dental Board of California, where he has served since 2013. Lai has been director at Lai Enterprises Inc. since 2005 and owner at Ross Carlton Lai DDS since 1985. He was a prosthetic assistant for implant dentistry at the Highland Hospital Alameda County Medical Center from 2006 to 2008. Lai earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Lai is registered without party preference.

Thomas Stewart, 70, of Bakersfield, has been reappointed to the Dental Board of California, where he has served since 2013. Stewart has been a dentist in private practice since 1976. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1978 to 1997 and in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps from 1972 to 1976. Stewart earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Howard University College of Dentistry. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Stewart is a Republican.

Henry Hansel, 67, of Santa Rosa, has been reappointed to the California Consumer Motor Vehicle Recovery Corporation Board of Directors, where he has served since 2013. Hansel has been owner and president at the Hansel Auto Group since 1973. Hansel is chairman of the Northern California Ford Dealers Advertising Association Board of Directors, president of the Northern California Toyota Dealers Advertising Association Board of Directors and a member of the Northern California Honda Dealers Advertising Association Board of Directors. Kathryn Ellen Doi, 57, of Sacramento, has been reappointed to the California New Motor Vehicle Board, where she has served since 2013. Doi has been a partner at Hanson Bridgett LLP since 2014. She was a partner at Murphy Austin Adams Schoenfeld LLP from 2008 to 2014, where she was senior counsel from 2007 to 2008. Doi was an associate at Greenberg Traurig LLP from 2005 to 2007 and senior counsel at Livingston and Mattesich from 2004 to 2005. She served as senior deputy legal affairs secretary in the Office of the Governor from 2002 to 2003. Matt Chesnut, 43, of Palo Cedro, has been appointed to the State Interagency Coordinating Council on Early Intervention. Chesnut has been executive director and chief executive officer at Parent Infant Programs since 2005. He was a behavior analyst at the Yolo County Office of Education from 2003 to 2005. Chesnut was executive director at Applied Behavior Consultants Schools from 2001 to 2003, where he was a teacher from 1999 to 2001. He is a member of Zero to Three and the Infant Development Association of California. Chesnut earned a Doctor of Education degree in educational leadership from the University of California, Davis and a Master of Science degree in special education from National University. Ted I. Benito, 51, of Los Angeles, has been reappointed to the California Volunteers Commission, where he has served since 2014. Yvette Radford, 55, of Richmond, has been reappointed to the California Volunteers Commission, where she has served since 2014. John E. Peters, Jr., 43, of Santa Maria, has been appointed to the State 9-1-1 Advisory Board.
