YOUNTVILLE, Calif. /California Newswire/ — Calif. Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi (D – Torrance) today released the following statement in response to the State Auditor’s findings yesterday of wasteful spending at the state’s home for veterans in Yountville, Calif.:
“As Chair of the Assembly Veterans Affairs Committee, I am extremely disappointed with the findings of wasteful spending at the Yountville Veterans Home. At a time when California has the nation’s largest population of homeless veterans, it is shameful to see precious resources being wasted like this.
“I have scheduled a visit to the Yountville Home next Tuesday. I will make sure that the Legislature exercises its oversight responsibility to hold the California Department of Veterans Affairs accountable and work toward preventing such wasteful spending from happening again.”
Assemblymember Muratsuchi represents the 66th Assembly District, which includes the cities of Gardena, Hermosa Beach, Lomita, the Los Angeles communities of Harbor City and Harbor Gateway, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates, Torrance and the unincorporated communities of El Camino Village and West Carson.
