CUDAHY, Calif. /CALIFORNIA NEWSWIRE/ — During its regular meeting on July 15, 2025, the Cudahy City Council unanimously adopted several key resolutions affirming the City’s commitment to supporting immigrant communities and protecting due process rights. “Red Cards,” providing basic “Know Your Rights” information, are available at City Hall in both English and Spanish.

The following items were approved:

Resolution No. 25-37 – A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Cudahy in support of H.R. 3101 – the “Securing Help for Immigrants through Education and Legal Development (SHIELD) Act”, introduced by Congressman Robert Garcia. This federal legislation seeks to expand access to legal representation and due process protections for individuals facing deportation.

Resolution No. 25-38 – A Resolution supporting Senate Bill 48 (Safe Access to Schools), introduced by Senator Lena Gonzalez, which would protect students and families from immigration enforcement activity on or near school campuses.

Resolution No. 25-39 – A Resolution in support of Senate Bill 805 (No Vigilantes Act), authored by Senator Aisha Wahab and coauthored by Senator Lena Gonzalez, promoting transparency and public safety by requiring clear identification of law enforcement personnel and addressing unauthorized impersonation.

Resolution No. 25-46 – A Resolution encouraging local small businesses to uphold immigrant rights by adopting internal policies that limit civil immigration enforcement activities on private premises.

In continued efforts to support the community, the City also reminds residents that “Red Cards,” providing basic “Know Your Rights” information, are available at City Hall in both English and Spanish during regular business hours (Monday–Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.).
