PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Westpointe Mortgage has launched an unprecedented program to protect home buyers and existing homeowners in today’s uncertain economic environment. Effective immediately, Westpointe Mortgage will offer a mortgage protection benefit that will allow borrowers to receive payments to cover their monthly mortgage for up to 6 months should they become involuntarily unemployed. This program also includes an accidental death benefit.

“With today’s economy, people are hesitating purchasing or refinancing their home even though the interest rates are at historic lows,” said John Lippello, President of Westpointe Mortgage. “This job loss mortgage protection program offers piece of mind to our borrowers and hopefully can help stimulate the local economy.”

Westpointe Mortgage has added this benefit on most of its home mortgage loans. The program will pay up to a $1,500 benefit for six months of involuntary unemployment during the first year of the loan. The benefit, which is subject to certain restrictions, becomes effective 6 months after loan closing.

“We feel this is a unique positive program that will allow homeowners to stay in their home even if they become temporarily unemployed,” said Lippello.
