NEW ORLEANS, La., July 6, 2015 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — San Fermin in Nueva Orleans (SFNO), the founders of the New Orleans Running of the Bulls, have planned four days of special events, including the 9th Annual El Encierro, or running the bulls – New Orleans-style! This year will be celebrated as El Ano Rosa (The Pink Year) to honor co-founder Beth Hanning, who successfully battled breast cancer after having been diagnosed shortly after SFNO2014.

WHAT: Have planned four days of special events, including the 9th Annual El Encierro, or running the bulls – New Orleans-style! This year will be celebrated as El Ano Rosa (The Pink Year) to honor co-founder Beth Hanning, who successfully battled breast cancer after having been diagnosed shortly after SFNO2014. Hundreds of pink-clad RollerBulls from around the globe will skate the Crescent City streets led by New Orleans’ own Big Easy Rollergirls.

Event coordinators are expecting some 20,000 people to participate in the 2015 run, which is also a fundraiser for two special charities. The first is Beth’s Friends Forever (BFF), which was founded to support and assist women in the Greater New Orleans area who have been diagnosed with cancer. The second organization that will receive donations is Animal Rescue of New Orleans for their continued care and devotion in finding permanent homes for lost and abandoned animals.

WHEN: There are numerous events (a full list is included below) but the main event is: El Encierro (running of the bulls); Saturday, July 11 – 6:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.

WHERE: The Sugar Mill, 1021 Convention Center Blvd., New Orleans, LA.

Participants are requested to wear all white clothing with a red sash and neckerchief, or some other Spanish themed attire, for all events.

**Please note: El Encierro is a RUN AT YOUR OWN RISK event. All ages are welcome, but participants under the age 12, and people with strollers, are required to use the sidewalks. No pets allowed, no outside beverages allowed.

THURSDAY JULY 9 – SPANISH WINE DINNER:
Official hotel sponsor, The New Orleans Hotel Collection, will host this year’s wine dinner at The Bourbon Orleans Hotel (717 Orleans St.). FRIDAY JULY 10 – EL TXUPINAZO: 6 – 9 p.m.:
El Txupinazo (choo-pee-NAHT-so) officially kicks off SFNO 2015. Join us at Publiq House (4528 Freret St) for food from great restaurants like Bayona, Mondo, Purloo Southern Cuisine, Little Gem Saloon and Pizza Domenica. Great drinks, live music and flamenco from Ven Pa’Ca Flamenco Ensemble, all for one price. SATURDAY JULY 11 – 6:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.:
The MAIN EVENT of SFNO is El Encierro* (aka The Running of the Bulls). Doors open at The Sugar Mill (1021 Convention Center Blvd.) at 6:30 a.m. The RollerBulls will be released at exactly 8 a.m., following the Procession of San Fermin at 7:30. Your registration gets you in for the run and for the before & after parties, which are always epic! Music from Quickie Mart and the Balkan Booty Squad, and fun things for the young things included. SATURDAY JULY 11 – 4:30 p.m. until you’ve had enough:
Those who are keeping the party alive (or reviving after siesta) should head to our hosts for La Fiesta de Pantalones (The Pants Party, so named “just because”). The Maison (508 Frenchmen St.) has live music from 4:30 p.m. until close. Great food and drinks. Stick around and you can view the weary Pastores as they finally get to relax after the morning’s event. This event is free and open to the public (age 21+).

SUNDAY JULY 12 – 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.:
El Pobre de Mi closes the show in grand fashion. Started back in 2009, it’s grown yearly and is beloved by the theatrical community. This recovery brunch of tapas and Ernest Hemingway themed show gives everyone a chance to bring out their inner Papa. Come prepared, or just come and wing it, you’ll love the show!
