KANSAS CITY, Mo. — CityEats, a boutique tour company based in Kansas City takes small groups to U.S. cities on vacations that focus on food. Unlike most culinary vacations that center around cooking, CityEats focuses on eating, and lots of it. Rebecca Bowman, the owner and creator of CityEats, and a former cruise line entertainer, came up with the idea when she saw local KC theaters offering trips to NYC to see Broadway shows.

“I loved the idea of boutique specialty tours, and I adore New York City, but I didn’t want to offer the same type of tours as the rest,” she explains. “I asked myself what the most exciting thing about traveling was to me and the answer was easy – food.”

After 17 years of sailing around the world Rebecca has eaten her fair share of food, from seal in Greenland, to steak in Uruguay and, throughout her travels, food has always played a critical role.

“While most people would come back to the ship with photos of buildings and statues,” she says, “I would come back with picture after picture of food. Seriously, I have thousands. I love seeing the world through food, and I’m confident there are others out there who are like me.”

CityEats focuses on domestic destinations, making it both affordable and accessible while still being luxurious.

“In this economy, many people cannot afford to take vacations to faraway locations such as Paris or Rome,” says Bowman, “This way you get an exciting vacation right here in the U.S. that’s both economical and fun. And, what could be more deliciously-indulgent than eating well?”

CityEats offers Spring and Fall itineraries ranging from casual to elite. Vacations are either 3 or 4 nights and include luxury accommodations, walking/tasting tours, gourmet dinners, chauffeured limos, airport transfers, and more. Tours are limited to 14 people and booked on a first-come first-served basis. Prices range from $250 – $2,600 per person, based on double occupancy.
