SACRAMENTO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — Today, Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. announced the following appointment: Evan Westrup, 31, of Sacramento, has been appointed press secretary in the Office of the Governor, where he has served as deputy press secretary since Governor Brown took office in 2011.
Previously, he served as deputy press secretary on the Jerry Brown for Governor Campaign in 2010 and deputy press secretary in the Office of Attorney General Brown from 2009 to 2010.
Westrup was deputy youth vote director on Barack Obama’s Presidential Campaign in New Mexico in 2008 and associate communications director in the Office of Governor Schwarzenegger from 2007 to 2008.
He earned a Master of International and European Politics degree from the University of Edinburgh. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $130,000.
Westrup is a Democrat.
