DETROIT, Mich. — Allure Medical Spa announces that Dr. Kotlus, a cosmetic and oculofacial plastic surgeon in Shelby Township, Michigan, spent the last two weeks of September, 2008 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on a humanitarian medical mission. He worked with a group of Mongolian surgeons to train them in eyelid and facial reconstructive surgery. He assisted them with advanced surgical cases including facial bone reconstructions, eyelid reconstructions, and facial tumor resections.

“My visit to Mongolia gave me a rich cultural experience and it helped me to appreciate the high quality of medicine we have in the United States.”

This mission was organized through Health for Humanity, a group that provides health development assistance to communities in need. Allure Medical Spa sponsored the trip, donating medical materials and equipment.

Dr. Kotlus plans to develop an internet-based consultation service with the surgeons he trained in Mongolia so they can have access to year-round assistance with difficult surgical cases.
