SACRAMENTO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — On behalf of all Californians, Governor Brown and First Lady Anne Gust Brown honor Sgt. 1st Class Clark A. Corley Jr., who bravely gave his life in service to our state and nation. The Governor and First Lady extend their deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.
In memorial, Governor Brown ordered that flags be flown at half-staff over the State Capitol on Thurs. (Dec. 8). Sgt. 1st Class Corley’s family will receive a letter of condolence from the Governor.
Sgt. 1st Class Clark A. Corley Jr., 35, of Oxnard, CA, died December 3, in Wardak province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, Fort Bliss, TX. Corley was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
