SACRAMENTO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — On Wednesday, Calif. Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. announced the following appointments: First, Vice Admiral Jody A. Breckenridge, USCG (retired), 61, of Pleasant Hill, has been appointed chair of the San Francisco Bay Area Water Emergency Transportation Authority Board of Directors.
Breckenridge served in several positions in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1976 to 2010, including commander of the Coast Guard Pacific Area, director of strategic transformation and assistant commandant for human resources at the U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters, commander of the Eleventh Coast Guard District, commander of Maintenance and Logistics Command Pacific, commanding officer for the Coast Guard Recruiting Command, chief of officer personnel for the Coast Guard Personnel Command, executive officer for Integrated Support Command and Base Seattle, chief of the officer candidate school, chief of the officer boards and status branch, assistant chief of operations at the Pay and Personnel Center, personnel information systems staff, operations officer for Group Seattle, assistant port safety officer at Port Safety Station Seattle and the Marine Environmental Protection Policy Division, duty officer at the National Response Center, chief of officer assignments and deputy chief of staff.
She is vice chair of the San Francisco Fleet Week Association Board of Directors, a Fellow at the Institute for Defense and Business and a member of the Governor’s Military Council, the Bay Area American Red Cross Services to the Armed Forces Committee, the Marines Memorial Association Board of Directors, the First Command Financial Services Military Advisory Board and Mission: Readiness. Breckenridge earned a Master of Science degree in natural resource strategy from National Defense University, Industrial College of the Armed Forces and a Master of Public Policy from the University of Maryland. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Breckenridge is a Democrat.
Also, Frank Brass, 83, of San Francisco, has been appointed to the California Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, where he has served since 2001. Brass was an attorney at Parente and Christopher in 2001, a partner at Brass and Zuckerman from 1997 to 2000 and an attorney in private practice from 1995 to 1997. He was a partner at Luttringer and Brass from 1995 to 1997 and from 1976 to 1981 and partner at Greene and Brass from 1988 to 1995 and at Brennan and Brass from 1973 to 1976. Brass was an associate at Charles P. Scully from 1960 to 1969 and at Neyhart Grodin and Beeson from 1970 to 1972. He served as infantryman in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. Brass earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $134,591. Brass is a Democrat.
