SACRAMENTO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — Calif. Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments: First, Joan Grant, 79, of Anaheim, has been appointed to the Porterville Developmental Center Advisory Board, where she has served since 2003.
Grant was a housing inspector for the Orange County Housing Authority from 1979 to 1998, a school secretary for the Otto A. Fischer School from 1973 to 1979 and an intake receptionist at Orange County Juvenile Hall from 1970 to 1973. She is a member of the California Association of State Hospital Parents Councils for the Retarded. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Grant is a Democrat.
Sunny Maden, 74, of Covina, has been appointed to the Porterville Developmental Center Advisory Board. Maden was owner of the South Hills Escrow Corporation from 1967 to 2010 and president of Escrow Data Corporation from 1981 to 2010. Maden served on the California Rehabilitation Appeals Board from 2008 to 2011 and on the State Council on Developmental Disabilities from 2000 to 2007. She serves on the California Olmstead Advisory Committee and is a committee member of the Lanterman Developmental Center Parent Coordinating Council. She was an officer and former president of the California Association of State Hospital Parent Councils for the Retarded. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Maden is a Republican.
Christine Maul, 62, of Fresno, has been appointed to the Porterville Developmental Center Advisory Board. Maul has been an assistant professor at the Fresno State University Department of Communicative Disorders and Deaf Studies since 2010, where she was a lecturer from 1998 to 2010. She was a special education lead at the Merced County Office of Education California Preschool Instructional Network from 2008 to 2009 and a speech, language and hearing specialist for the Fresno County Office of Education from 1996 to 2000. Maul is a member of the California Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the California Association of State Hospital Parents Councils for the Retarded. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from Fresno State University and a Doctor of Education degree in Special Education, Disabilities and Risk Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Maul is a Democrat.
Paul Russ, 54, of Hesperia, has been appointed to the 28th District Agricultural Association, San Bernardino County Fair Board of Directors. Russ was senior vice president and High Desert regional manager at the American Security Bank from 2010 to 2012. He held multiple positions at the Citizens Business Bank from 1999 to 2010, including senior vice president, Inland Empire regional manager and branch manager. Russ was general manager and chief financial officer at Advance Disposal Company Inc. from 1993 to 1998 and vice president and manager at California State Bank from 1990 to 1993. He was assistant vice president and commercial loan officer at Community Bank from 1988 to 1990 and assistant vice president and a commercial loan officer at First Interstate Bank from 1983 to 1988. Russ is a member of the Enterprise Funding Corporation Board and the City of Hesperia Oversight Board. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Russ is a Republican.
Doug Rhoades, 59, of Kelseyville, has been reappointed to the 49th District Agricultural Association, Lake County Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2012. Rhoades has been an attorney in private practice since 1997. He served in multiple positions at the Lake County California Sheriff’s Department from 1976 to 1997, including sergeant and deputy sheriff. Rhoades is a member of the Kelseyville Unified School District Board of Trustees, the Lake County Peace Officers Association, the Northern California Training Officers Association and the California Association of Police Training Officers. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Empire College School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Rhoades is a Democrat.
