SAN ANTONIO, Texas, Oct. 12, 2015 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — The Central Texas Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth(R) (ACG), the global organization focused on driving middle-market growth, presented its recently established Scholarship for Finance Studies to Dr. Keith Fairchild, PhD, associate professor and former department chair of the Department of Finance at The University of Texas San Antonio.

On April 2, the Board of Directors of ACG Central Texas approved the creation of a scholarship with the double objective of supporting selected academic programs in the region while incentivizing their participation in the ACG Cup competition.

The ACG Cup competition is a case-study competition for MBA students in a Chapter’s geographic area. In Texas, the ACG competition is organized by the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter. Starting in 2013, ACG Central Texas made the commitment to support this competition by promoting and coordinating the participation of MBA programs in the Austin-San Antonio corridor.

“We are honored to present the first ACG Central Texas Scholarship for Finance Studies to the College of Business at UTSA,” said Eduardo Berdegue, managing director of Corporate Finance Associates and president of ACG Central Texas. “The establishment of the scholarship shows our Board’s and our Chapter’s commitment to strengthening the bonds that exist between our organization and the academic community in our region.”

The ACG Central Texas Scholarship for Finance Studies awards up to four business schools in the Austin-San Antonio corridor that have a Master’s degree program in any business discipline. The criteria is participation of the business school in the final round of the Texas ACG Cup competition in the academic year preceding the presentation of the scholarship. The Chairman of the school’s Finance Department administers the scholarship, which may benefit up to 4 students selected on the basis of excellence, achievement, or need at each school’s discretion.
