Celebrating its 35th anniversary, the program began when the City and El Monte-based Dickies clothing company partnered to provide Christmas meals to 30 families in need. Over the years, the program has grown to provide food and toy baskets to thousands of El Monte residents.

The program has also become a symbol of volunteerism. Annually, over 200 City and community volunteers kick-off the day by setting up the goods and toys and then helping families collect their baskets.

The City partnered with the El Monte City School District, El Monte Union School District, Mountain View School District and dozens of business owners and stakeholders to make this program possible.
