Gluten Free Pasta TEMPE, Ariz., Aug. 27, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — DeCio Pasta, the leader in production of high quality handmade naturally flavored pasta, has launched a new line of gluten free pasta which exceeds new FDA labeling requirements a full year ahead of regulatory enforcement. The FDA ruling sets the safety threshold for labeling products gluten-free at 20 ppm or less, and defines the use of ingredients and labeling terms. The FDA standard is consistent with the Codex Alimentarius labeling guidelines set by the World Health Organization.

The United States now joins the ranks of several major countries around the world that have adopted similar standards, including the European Union and Canada. DeCio’s initial gluten-free pasta line includes seven new products which include several Fettuccine, Linguini and Orzo.

Nationally Acclaimed Chef and CEO of DeCio Pasta Scott Morrison said, “We have been in the gluten-free planning process for over two years. Truly understanding Celiac Disease and the profound impact it has on those affected was our inspiration and starting point for all product innovation. Unlike some gluten-free food manufactures, we embraced the hard work, spent the money and did the R&D to produce a truly gluten-free pasta that honestly services those with Celiac Disease.”

Morrison added, “Our pasta is produced in a dedicated gluten-free stand-alone state of the art facility which results in a product with less than 5 ppm. We didn’t even register on the tests because 5 ppm is the limit of the current tests! Not only do we want to provide a product that those with Celiac Disease can eat, but one they crave! It took some time but we are proud to have gone the extra mile to offer one of the most innovative and delicious products available anywhere in the gluten free marketplace.”

According to The National Foundation for Celiac Awareness:
* An estimated 1 in 133 Americans, or about 1 percent (3M people) of the population, have celiac disease.
* There are NO pharmaceutical cures for celiac disease.
* A 100 percent gluten-free diet is the only existing treatment for celiac today.
* Gluten-free sales reached more than $2.6 billion by the end of 2010 and are now expected to exceed more than $8.5 billion by 2015 (Source: Nutrition Business Journal).

“We are excited by the ever increasing market opportunity and overwhelming demand for our products. We will continue to focus on staying true to our brand as cutting edge culinary innovators all while expanding DeCio’s availability to the consumer. At the end of the day, it’s about passion for the pasta,” said Morrison.
