L.A. Mayor VillaraigosaLOS ANGELES, Calif. /California Newswire/ — L.A. Mayor Villaraigosa today issued the following statement about the ongoing collection of the annual community budget survey: “In Los Angeles, we’re making the tough choices to ensure Angelenos get the services they expect, while continuing to invest in our future.

“As a result, crime is at the lowest levels since the 1950’s, and we’re doubling the size of our rail network. As we look towards our budget for FY 2013-2014, we want your input. That’s why I’m pleased to announce the 2013 Los Angeles Budget Challenge is now available online.

The Los Angeles Budget Challenge was released February 1, 2013 and distributed to all 95 Neighborhood Councils around the City. It is available for public access at http://la.budgetchallenge.org. The survey includes questions focused on the City’s major budget concerns for the upcoming fiscal year and will be available online until March 4, 2013. Physical copies are due February 27. Upon the deadline, my office will collect the information and release the findings to the public.

We hope that Angelenos will take full advantage of this opportunity. This is your chance to help make the City work for you; your views are a vital aspect in creating a spending plan that truly reflects the needs of our city.”
