LOS ANGELES, Calif. /California Newswire/ — Actor, felon and self-proclaimed social media superstar, Steve Comisar will be released from federal prison on July 21 after serving a 15 year sentence for fraud. Comisar will be placed on home confinement in Los Angeles until his sentence officially ends on April 16, 2018.
Steve Comisar is best known for being the only Hollywood actor who is also a famous fraudster. While in prison Comisar skyrocketed to social media fame by acquiring close to one million Twitter followers and over one million YouTube views. Comisar also contacted some of Hollywood’s most powerful actors, directors, producers, and agents, and asked them to help jump start his acting career upon release.
Comisar’s publicist, Laura Levine, says, “If Steven wants a second chance as an actor he’s going to need the help of some major players in the industry. Luckily for Steven, Hollywood A-Listers are known for their kindness and generosity when it comes to helping the underdog. I really think he’s going to get the help he needs.”
Comisar began acting at a young age and has appeared in many movies, television shows, and commercials. He has written a book on fraud prevention and appeared regularly on Dateline NBC and The View as an expert on fraud and scams.
Comisar joins the exclusive list of other celebrity felons who have served prison time. A few of them are Mark Wahlberg, Robert Downey Jr., Martha Stewart, Tim Allen, Christian Slater, Wesley Snipes, and Danny Trejo.
