SANTA CLARA, Calif. /California Newswire/ — SecuGen and BridgePoint Systems are collaborating to introduce the new TrustPoint 3-Factor Biometric Reader, BridgePoint's flexible solution. The new Reader offers a variety of security options including biometric, PIN and optional PKI challenge-response authentication for increasing or decreasing the level of security, depending on the user's requirements. The new Reader will be available for preview at SecuGen's booth, number 18139, at next week's ISC West 2012 exhibition in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The TrustPoint 3-Factor Biometric Reader contains SecuGen's PIV compliant fingerprint OEM module, the SDA04, and is the only device of its kind that is Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) compatible. It is designed to authenticate Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credentials and mitigate electronic cloning. Attackers who otherwise could make a copy of a PIV credential and then build a clone will not be able to do so when BridgePoint's TrustPoint 3-Factor Biometric Reader is in-place. The attacker cannot copy the private keys that are required to achieve a cryptographic PKI challenge-response, which the BridgePoint Reader is uniquely configured to verify. As a result, attackers are not able to succeed when it comes to getting past either the Personal or Card Authentication Key (PAK and CAK) mechanisms.

The TrustPoint 3-Factor Biometric Reader features an advanced, weather-resistant, slim-line design, a user friendly telephone-style keypad, a bright 2 line by 16 character display, a stainless steel conduit port, a USB programming port and dual tamper switches for detecting unauthorized removal.

"When designing this state-of-the-art reader, we were drawn to SecuGen's fingerprint sensors and OEM modules," said Thomas E. Corder, president and CEO of BridgePoint Systems. "We felt the technology was unmatched due to its high quality and reasonable pricing structure. "We are very pleased to work with SecuGen and look forward to a long relationship between our two companies."

Jeff Brown, VP of Sales for SecuGen added, "The TrustPoint 3-Factor Biometric Reader is truly unique in its ability to present a cryptographic PKI challenge-response. We are excited about the prospects for this product."

Won Lee, CEO of SecuGen stated, "Our goal has always been to deliver reliable, accurate, and affordable products for our developer partners. We are very pleased with BridgePoint Systems' new Reader and we are honored to play a part in bringing this new product to market."

About BridgePoint Systems:

For more than a decade, BridgePoint Systems has delivered solutions to help security managers face an ever-changing landscape of threats and challenges. Located at the edge of Silicon Valley, the company offers innovative technology that embeds public key infrastructure in an agile, user friendly way for assuring identity in physical access systems. Among other pioneering efforts, BridgePoint Systems was the first U.S. company to develop smart card readers for use by the Department of Defense in a physical access system. The company was also first to integrate the Department of Defense's CAC with biometrics in a real world deployment and first to install an interoperable Personal Identification Verification reader in a government, multi-tenant facility.

Some of the nation's largest government contractors and security integrators such as the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marines, Army Corps of Engineers, General Services Administration (GSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) use BridgePoint Systems' technology. All of BridgePoint Systems' products are securely designed and built in the United States.
