ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The weight of the world falls upon all parentless children. That’s why Children Awaiting Parents, a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding adoptive families for children in foster care, is offering new ways for caring individuals to help parentless children. “Our economy has changed but what children in foster care need has not changed at all,” states Mark Soule, Executive Director of Children Awaiting Parents. “We are here to find a loving and supportive home for every child that waits in foster care. We know that children who “age out” of the foster care system constitute the majority of all homeless youth and that 40 percent of foster children do not graduate from High School. These kids deserve better. They deserve parents.”

Children Awaiting Parents now offers supporters the opportunity to sponsor recruitment for a waiting child for one year for $500, six months for $250, or one month for $45. For more information on these opportunities, please visit www.ChildrenAwaitingParents.org or call (888) 835-8802.

“Like all nonprofits in the nation, we are feeling the economic shift,” according to Soule. “Our message to donors is simple, these children need families and we need their support to make that happen. 40 percent of children who ‘age out’ of foster care will end-up needing welfare. Let’s make the investment in their future now so that we can change that statistic.”

In 37 years, Children Awaiting Parents has brought together more than 6,000 children and families throughout the United States.
