California Gov. BrownSACRAMENTO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — Today, Calif. Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. announced the following appointments: First, Rojirio De La Cerda, 39, of Fowler, has been appointed administrator at the Veterans Home of California, Fresno. De La Cerda was a correctional health services administrator II at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation from 2011 to 2013. He served in various positions at Golden LivingCenters from 2000 to 2011, including senior and executive director.

De La Cerda was a service coordinator at the Central Valley Regional Center from 2000 to 2001 and a dialysis patient care technician at Reedley Dialysis from 1992 to 2000. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $120,000. De La Cerda is a Democrat.

Lynda Gledhill, 41, of Sacramento, has been appointed deputy secretary for communications at the California Government Operations Agency. Gledhill has been press secretary at the California Attorney General’s Office since 2011. She was director of communications at the Office of California Senator Ellen Corbett from 2008 to 2011 and a communications consultant at the Office of California Senate President pro Tempore Don Perata from 2007 to 2008. Gledhill was a political reporter at the San Francisco Chronicle from 1998 to 2007, a staff writer at the Mail and Guardian in 1998 and director of communications at the Senior Executives Association from 1994 to 1996. She earned a Master of Arts degree in journalism from the University of Missouri. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $104,508. Gledhill is a Democrat.

Julian Leichty, 29, of Fresno, has been appointed special assistant at the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment. Leichty has been an executive fellow at the California Environmental Protection Agency since 2012. He was a research consultant at EdSource in 2012 and served in mulitple positions at National Taiwan University from 2011 to 2012, including research and project assistant, teaching assistant and student advisor. Leichty was a research assistant at EdSource from 2007 to 2010 and a Fulbright Fellow at the Foundation for Scholarly Exchange in Taiwan from 2006 to 2007. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $62,952. Leichty is a Democrat.

Michelle Brown, 49, of Hesperia, has been appointed to the California Board of State and Community Corrections. Brown has held multiple positions at the San Bernardino County Probation Department since 1985, including chief probation officer. She earned a Master of Arts degree in criminal justice from California State University, San Bernardino. This position requires Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Brown is a Republican.

Bruce Givner, 62, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the California Board of Optometry. Givner has been a tax attorney at Givner and Kaye, A Professional Corporation since 1994. He worked as a tax attorney at Jeffer Mangels Butler and Marmaro from 1993 to 1994, at Grayson Givner and Wolfe from 1990 to 1993 and at Grayson Givner Booke Silver and Wolfe from 1985 to 1990. Givner was a tax attorney at Sanger Grayson Givner and Booke from 1982 to 1985 and at Flame Sanger Grayson and Ginsburg from 1977 to 1982. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from Columbia University Law School and a Master of Laws degree from New York University School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Givner is a Democrat.
