Calif. Governor and First Lady Honor Spc. Manuel J. Vasquez

SACRAMENTO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — On behalf of all Californians, Governor Brown and First Lady Anne Gust Brown honor Spc. Manuel J. Vasquez, who bravely gave his life in service to our state and nation. The Governor and First Lady extend their deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.

In memorial, Governor Brown ordered that flags be flown at half-staff over the State Capitol today. Spc. Vasquez’s family will receive a letter of condolence from the Governor.

Spc. Manuel J. Vasquez, 22, of West Sacramento, CA, died April 24, in Paktika province, Afghanistan. Vasquez was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 172nd Infantry Brigade, Grafenwoehr, Germany. Vasquez was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
